Our new Welcome Groups

Like all sexual violence support services across the UK we have a waiting list. And we know that it's really hard for people to have to wait for support once they've made that difficult decision to ask for help.

So we've devised a series of 'Welcome Group' workshops for women who are on our waiting list.

The group is held over four weeks, and will focus on understanding the effects of trauma such as rape or sexual abuse, and learning some skills to help you cope.

You will not be asked to share your own personal experience, or talk about anything you don't feel comfortable with.

We hope that attending the workshop will help you cope better while you wait for support from DRCSAS, and give you some useful skills and knowledge.

If you're currently on our waiting list and haven't been asked about attending this group, but would like to, please email us at info@devonrapecrisis.org.uk and we'll add you to our group list.

Here are some comments from women who have attended a previous group at DRCSAS:

Now I don’t feel alone in my experience, afraid, ashamed.

I feel more confident, resourceful, braver, worthy, strong.

This group has changed the way I am thinking and responding - it has given me the necessary tools to begin to improve my life.

This is a very secure, safe and calming place. I like how much we learnt each session.

I got more from this than any other support agency in mental health.

It was compassionate and kind.

Both facilitators were brilliant.

Warm and welcoming, filled with empathy.
