At Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services, we are committed to providing the best possible service to survivors of sexual violence in Devon.
The demand for our service increases every year and we currently have a waiting list of almost 400 people waiting for counselling. This in itself is heart-breaking, but this has also happened alongside a decrease in our funding, which is being seen across the country.
This sadly means that our waiting time, for one to one counselling/therapeutic support sessions, is currently at approximately 24 months.
We know that taking the step to reach out for support takes courage and leaving survivors without the support they need goes against our beliefs and ethos as a charity. With this in mind we have introduced group support, advocacy and specialist support and an online course to help our survivors access support sooner along their journey to recovery.
When you refer into our service, as the first step we will make a plan for support with you, with these options in mind, to ensure you get help and support that is tailored for your needs, as quickly as possible.
For more immediate support, our helpline service remains open on 01392 204174, Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings 6pm-9pm. We also offer this anonymous support via email – support@devonrapecrisis.org.uk’
We carefully monitor our capacity for support and will update our current waiting time statement every three months.
