Maggie has worked primarily with issues of Violence Against Women and Girls, and in particular sexual violence and survivor-led services, for most of her adult life. She was a co-founder of Worcester Rape Crisis Centre in the mid eighties, and then a co-founder of the Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre Cornwall (WRSAC) in the mid nineties.
As the CEO of WRSAC, Maggie led the organisation from a completely voluntary one, to become one of the largest Rape Crisis Centres in the country, and then through its rebranding into The Women’s Centre Cornwall. She retired from this role at the end of March 2020.
Maggie has served as a trustee on the RCEW Board of Trustees, and for nearly ten years has been a trustee of EVAW (End Violence Against Women Coalition), a national membership organisation undertaking campaigning and lobbying on behalf of the VAWG sector.
