Suzie, Specialist Support Worker

Hi, my name is Susie and I joined the DRCSAS team in June 2018 as a Specialist Support Worker.
My background is in housing, counselling and complementary therapy. For some years I worked in advocacy and supportive roles in central London, with predominately BME communities. I have also practised as a complementary therapist in a community-based health centre that delivers affordable therapies to women. In Devon as a counsellor, I have worked in variety of settings, including an NHS Surgery and the Intercom Trust, counselling clients who identify as LGBT+.
I really enjoy working at DRCSAS and feel privileged to be able to support women on their individual road to recovery. I advocate strongly the healing power of being heard and believed.
I am angry and saddened by the prevalence of sexual violence towards women and I passionately support the ethos of DRCSAS: to both empower women and change attitudes in wider society.
