I have worked with DRCSAS for several years and in different roles, I’m currently Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees.
I learned early on that women have a very specific set of challenges in society and encountering sexual and gender-based violence in all socio-economic backgrounds is one of them. We don’t have to sit alone with these experiences.
My favourite things about DRCSAS is its integrity and ethos, women-only space, specialised knowledge and flexibility to create a bespoke service that will come alongside a women and help her explore her options and what she would like for herself, and help her get there.
The level of referrals into the service shows that inappropriate and unacceptable actions by others is very common, and if something has happened that makes you feel “unhappy/uncomfortable/it feels wrong”, it’s definitely worth taking about it with someone in an environment that is knowledgeable and trustworthy.
