Charlene

Hi my name is Charlene and I’m a trainee counselling psychologist and specialist support worker at DRCSAS. Before joining the team in October 2019, I worked within community mental health and education whilst studying a master’s degree in psychological trauma. Following a voluntary position at Women’s Aid, I worked for several years with Next Link, a domestic abuse charity, providing emotional and practical support to women and children, supporting them to stay safe and recover from domestic violence and abuse.
I believe that we can challenge systems that perpetuate injustice, creating opportunities for change that promote equality and freedom from oppression. I therefore feel honoured to be part of an organisation that campaigns against gender-based violence and provides a safe space for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault to direct their own journey of recovery and healing. It is always a privilege to bear witness to the resilience and courage of the young people and adults I work with and to be part of such an incredible team of dedicated and inspiring women.
