Counselling service for young people

DRCSAS offer counselling to young people (young women and young men) age between 13 and 25.

We understand that sometimes it can be really difficult to talk to friends or family but it can feel easier to talk to someone who doesn't know you.

You can get in contact with us either via email or phoning the office. You will be informed how the service works and you will be asked some initial information, such as name, address, contact number, etc. We will then arrange with an initial assessment which can take place in Exeter, Barnstaple or Torquay.

After this, one of our counsellors will contact you to book your first session.

What is counselling

Counselling is a confidential safe place for a young person to explore feelings and behaviours that are impacting on their life. Devon Rape Crisis Service particularly works with the effects of trauma caused by sexual violence, but other issues will also be discussed if it feels helpful to you.

We are able to offer an initial 8 sessions, a review and then further sessions if needed.

Who is the service for?

Our service is available to any young person between the ages of 13-25 who has experienced sexual violence. This includes rape, historic abuse, sexual exploitation, on-line abuse and sexual assault.

Where

We can offer counselling in Exeter, Barnstaple, Torquay and Newton Abbott. We take referrals from anywhere in Devon and Torbay.

Confidentiality

During your counselling sessions, you may be concerned about whether what you say is going to be told to anyone else.
Anything that is talked about in your counselling sessions is generally confidential within the organisation and will not be shared with anyone external without your permission.
Confidentiality will be discussed with you at the beginning of our first session.
